About GDO
Striving for a positive change

Vision and mission
Our vision
To reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of vulnerable people at the grassroots level.
Our mission
To bring positive change to local communities through an effective poverty-alleviation strategy of microfinance — promoting education, women's empowerment through education and advocacy, agriculture, health and life skills for vulnerable people.
Objectives
What we exist to do
- 01
Licensed micro-financing
Carry on micro-financing as a Non-Bank Microfinance Company under our SECP licence.
- 02
Livelihoods
Improve livelihoods of poor communities through training, enterprise development, micro-credit and social mobilisation.
- 03
Women's development
Promote women's income generation, awareness of legal and basic rights, and equal participation in leadership and decisions.
- 04
Education
Establish and support schools, literacy and computer-literacy centres and reading rooms (not degree-awarding).
- 05
Water & sanitation
Run programmes for clean drinking water, hygiene, sewerage and access roads for the poor.
- 06
Community uplift
Strengthen rural communities and urban slums through savings, social mobilisation, vocational training and capacity building.
- 07
Linkages
Link communities with government service departments, donors, NGOs and the private sector for long-term, self-reliant development.
- 08
Training & consultancy
Train and support people who design and oversee development projects, and share skills with NGOs, CBOs and community groups.

Sustainability
Built to last after the project ends
Community participation
Every project is designed so local people take part — participation brings ownership.
Real community need
We start from what communities tell us they need, not from what is easy to fund.
Quality of delivery
Pre-defined reporting, monitoring visits and community oversight keep quality high.
Sustainable results
We design for outputs that last after a project ends.
Work with a partner that is rooted in the community
Borrowers, donors, partners and volunteers — we would love to hear from you.
