Programme

Education

GDO runs non-formal village schools, trains teachers and offers scholarships to needy and bright students in rural Karor Lal Esan, so children — especially girls — can keep learning close to home.

The challenge

Why this matters

There are few public or private schools in these areas, and transport is limited. Many girls stop after primary school because families cannot afford or feel safe sending them to distant high schools.

What GDO does

  • Establishing non-formal schools at village level (TRSS) as an entry point to education
  • Training for teachers and scholarships for needy, bright students
  • Awareness among parents about the value of an educated community
  • Planned literacy and computer-literacy centres to widen access

No. GDO's education work covers basic, non-formal and adult literacy; as stated in our objectives, we do not act as a degree-awarding institute.
