Governance

Leadership & organisational structure

Clear roles from the boardroom to the village: an autonomous Board sets direction, a professional team delivers, and communities hold the work to account.

Structure

How GDO is organised

  1. Board of Directors

An autonomous board representing the private sector, communities and academia. It sets policy, provides vision and mission, and leads the organisation towards them.

  2. Chief Executive

Miss Anila Aziz leads GDO's management and is the organisation's head.

  3. Operational core

Project Managers and Programme Officers provide technical assistance to field teams and make sure projects deliver quantitative and qualitative results.

  4. Field teams & loan officers

Work in villages every day: organising groups, assessing and supporting borrowers, and running projects.

  5. Community organisations

60 Community Organisations, 26 Women Saving Groups, 10 Village Forums, one Union Council forum and one Tehsil forum — the people who own the work.

Community base

A network that reaches into every village we serve

In these bodies, 80% of participants are women and 20% are men. Members are trained in community management and leadership.

Internal systems

Policies that protect people and money

After strategic planning, GDO built its own Administration & Human Resources and Financial Management systems, applied in daily work. The Board's role in internal controls is ensured through internal manuals, and accounts receive an annual audit by a recognised chartered accountant firm.

Line departments we work with

Local Government, Health, Education and Higher Education, Agriculture Extension, Livestock & Dairy Development, Forest and Water Management.
